What an enthralling event!!!!!!!!
ayudh Mangalore along with the students and staff of Amrita Vidyalayam Mangalore guided by Br.mangalamrita chaitanya had organised a visit to Byse village, Shimoga which is one among the 101 villages adopted by our beloved Amma during Amritavarsham - 60. The team consisting of around 50 people started from Mangaluru ashram on 13th morning and reached Amrita Vidyalayam, Shimoga by 11am. Wow! What fun we had throughout the journey!!! Games,Music and Dance kept us entertained all through the journey. Post lunch we proceeded to Byesville We interacted with the villagers and then organised games where AVM students, the village kids and the elders participated (the games were created by ammachi labs for the purpose of better understanding of real life problems and best solutions). Though they were a little hesitant initially, it didn't take a long time for them to gel with us...At the same time some volunteers of AyudhMangaluru were busy with the toilet construction activities. By now, the remaining villagers too joined us. Women and kids were kept entertained in games. Later the kids were thought to make kites by Sanil uncle (an internationally renowned kite flyer representing Team Mangalore at various International platforms). Everyone - the villagers and the Mangalore team participated very enthusiastically. The kids enjoyed a lot trying to fly the kites they themselves made. After some group photography with the villagers, everyone assembled for Bhajans and Aarti. A short skit with equal participation from the kids of the village as well as AVM students was played. The skit was entertaining and had a very strong message- "HARMFUL EFFECTS OF OPEN DEFECATION and IMPORTANCE OF CLEANLINESS". Then we had campfire during which many danced to the tunes of Badaga although the elderly from the village were a little hesitant, the kids and the youngsters joined us for the dance. This was followed by some tasty dinner cooked by us. Though it had just been a few hours since we were with the villagers, a lot of the villagers, especially the kids were emotionally attached to all of us. The activities of the day got over by 10pm. The next morning, the guys and the kids had lot of fun playing games outdoor. Most of us, visited a beautiful stream which was just behind the AV campus. We started back our journey to Mangalore after breakfast. We were back in Mangalore ashram by 3.30pm. What an awesome weekend we had... The little time we spent with the villagers taught us to be happy with whatever we have. Those who couldn’t be a part of this missed the fun.
