Pilot Launch of the Green Initiative - Haritamritam

Pilot Launch of the Green Initiative - Haritamritam

As a part of its pilot run, the team conducted its first workshop at a society (Prempark in Pimpri, Pune) on 15th May 2016. The families in the society were cooperative, enthusiastic and indeed nature lovers. Initially a brief introduction about Ayudh and Haritamritam was orated to them proceeded by a demo on how to plant the saplings, the organic way. Post demonstration materials were distributed to the families. They were asked to fill their respective growbags (bags made from used flex in which the saplings were to be planted) under AYUDH member’s guidance. The grow bags are made out of the flex banners used (in the entire city) for Amma’s program publicity during this year(after preserving Amma’s photos).

Nearly 2000 bags could be made out of the flex waste and that way recycling is also done. Though hesitant initially, the participants put up their hands on and rejoiced mixing the materials (including mud and dry cow dung). They enthusiastically laid the different materials layer-by-layer inside the growbag. Eventually came the proud moment of planting the sapling. Chilly, Brinjal and tomato were available as options considering the hot season. They watered them and promised to look after them like their own children. Instruction guides were distributed along with the saplings which contained care taking procedures for the saplings along with some tips. The families returned back happily with their new member and the Ayudh Team returned back happily with the joy of giving. Keep up the good work team.
